What is Ellanse Filler?
Ellanse was first introduced in 2010 as a revolutionary dermal filler to rival other treatments such as Restylane and Juvéderm. Now, whilst Ellanse is essentially a dermal filler, it does have some radical differences that set it apart from other treatments.
One of the main differences between Ellanse and Juvederm is that Ellanse is known as a bio-stimulator. This means it can actively encourage the body to produce new collagen in the treatment area making it a more worthwhile treatment option for some patients and treatments.
Ellanse contains polycaprolactone (PCL) microspheres that have a unique ability to stimulate collogen production within the body. It has been used for over 70 years in the medical field, but only introduced to aesthetic medicine in 2010.
When used in Dermal filler, PCL gives the skin a longer-lasting, more natural lift compared to other dermal fillers, due to its ability to replenish lost collagen.
Other dermal fillers, such as Juvéderm are based on hyaluronic acid, which creates a smooth and even appearance, but once it dissipates it does nothing, until topped up with further treatment.
What can Ellanse be used for?
The thicker consistency of Ellanse means it can smooth wrinkles, and not move once injected into the skin, making it a good option for many areas. The applications it can be used for are:

Since Ellanse filler stimulates collagen production, it’s not suitable for use in the lips, or as part of a non-surgical eyelid lifting procedures.
What is Juvéderm?
In Juvéderm fillers, hyaluronic acid is the main component and leading substance. Hyaluronic acid is effective at smoothing fine lines, improving facial contours, adding volume, and regulating water balance within the dermis to improve overall skin condition.
Juvéderm is a transparent, concentrated gel substance, and Its unique formulation of means it remains under the skin for longer. Juvederm can last up to 18 months before its effects begin to wear off, and you will have to invite your patient back for another treatment.

What should I choose?
The answer to this question depends on application and your patients’ desires. If the patient is simply looking to simply add volume to the skin, or the lips then Juvéderm would be the best solution. However, if they are looking to smooth wrinkles in high mobility areas, Ellanse may be suitable.
